Charlevoix is a beautiful region of Quebec consisting of major towns Baie- Saint-Paul, La Malbaie, Saint-Simeon, Saint-Hilarion, Saint-Irenee, Les Eboulements, Isle-aux-Coudres. All these towns are beautifully nestled along with the St.Lawrence river and mountains. The landscape is very specially formed by a massive Meteorite that crashed down millions of years ago and the impact crater is 50 km in diameter. The St. Lawrence route runs through the St. Lawrence river on Hwy 362 between Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie. This route is one of Canada’s most scenic drives. If you are going whale watching take this route to Baie-Sainte-Catherine and Tadoussac.
We planned ahead of our stay and route. We started our journey from Quebec City to La Malbaie. It’s almost 2 hours direct drive but obviously, we stopped at so many beautiful places and explored. First, we stopped on a roadside scenic lookout at Baie-saint-Paul. Then we stopped at Les-Eboulements to the lookout. It’s a little off of Hwy 362 to the south, you will see the sign.
Then we resumed our journey to La Malbaie. We visited Port de Pointe-au-Pic in the afternoon. Saw a huge rainbow there and made the day even more amazing. Then we grabbed some snacks and went to Parc du Quai Casgrain right before sunset. This place is surreal when low tide happens.
The region has so many hotels and motels. We booked few hotels here and there depending on where you were going next.
Here’s t犀利士 he summary that we covered in Charlevoix, Quebec:
Baie Saint Paul is the first town that comes first if you are arriving from Quebec City.
Île-aux-Coudres is a picturesque small island, filled with windmills and serene views.
Les Éboulements is the central point between Baie-Saint-Paul to La Malbaie.
La Malbaie is the last town and it’s around 1 hour after Baie-Saint-Paul.
Baie-Sainte-Catherine for Whale Watching! ( This is another great experience that I need to write another full blog post only about Whale Watching!)
Animals are my favorites. If you love animals, you shouldn’t miss Charlevoix’s Alpaca! They are just way too cute!
Train du Charlevoix is a scenic train that departs from Quebec City and you can enjoy the beautiful mountain view. It’s beautiful during autumn foliage.
Share your experience in the comments, if you already have visited! I’d love to hear 🙂
